A supervisor of a food packaging company ignored a worker’s request for light duty after the worker suffered from severe back pain for several weeks. The worker later lodged a complaint of disability discrimination against the company with the EOC.

2008/09 was a busy and productive year for the EOC. Apart from handling complaints from the general public, we also continued striving for elimination of discrimination, such as issuing the Code of Practice on Employment under the Race Discrimination Ordinance, publishing guidebooks to prevent sex discrimination in pay, etc.
