The RDO and its Code of Practice on Employment have come into operation since July 2009. The EOC has produced new TV and radio advertisements to publicize the enforcement of the Ordinance and its Code. The advertisement is being broadcast on local TV and radio stations since mid-August 2009.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has entered into force in the People’s Republic of China, including Hong Kong since 31 Aug 2008. This implies that the SAR government has to take appropriate measures in legislation, administration or other fields to put the Convention into practice and to ensure the rights of persons with disabilities.
