The first sharing session of “Career Challenge 2011/12”, a youth mentorship programme organized by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), was held today (20 January 2012). Miss Prudence Mak, the Founder and Creative Director of Chocolate Rain, a local brand, was the first guest mentor. She shared with more than one hundred secondary school students her experience in breaking stereotypes and overcoming challenges when she first started her venture.

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has today (19 January 2012) issued legal proceedings under the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, Cap. 480 in the District Court, on behalf of a female merchandiser who was dismissed by her employer immediately after her maternity leave. The Plaintiff alleged that her former employer treated her unreasonably and rudely after she had submitted her pregnancy notice, and was subsequently dismissed on the day when she resumed work from maternity leave.

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) was awarded the Merit Prize for SME Group in the 2011 Top 10.hk Website Competition today (18 January 2012). The Competition was organized by the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Ltd. (HKIRC.hk), which is the only local domain registrator. The purpose of the Competition was to identify outstanding websites which can serve as role models among local enterprises.
