  Details of the Orientation Game Design Contest :
   
 
Co-organisers: Equal Opportunities Commission and Women's Commission
Aim: To enhance gender awareness among orientation camp organisers and participants through designing games that are fun, creative, while promoting the message of gender equality at the same time

Eligibility:

Student organisations of any local tertiary institutes, or individual tertiary students on a group or individual basis.

Rules and Regulations:

  • Each team is to design a fun and interesting game that is suitable for orientation game while able to promote the concept of "gender awareness and gender equality" among students

  • All members of a team must be part-time or full-time students of any local tertiary institute during the 2004-2005 academic year

  • Short listed teams will demonstrate their games before a selection panel on 21 July 2005

  • On the day of demonstration:
    • Each demonstration should not be longer than 15 minutes
    • For games that involve a lot of participants, teams should ensure that there will be sufficient people to demonstrate their games
    • Each short-listed team will be reimbursed up to HK$300 for props used in the demonstration (receipts required)


  • Copyright - It is intended that the public can use the games designed by the participants

  • Video clips of winning games may be uploaded to the EOC website

Assessment Criteria:
  • Effectiveness of promoting "gender awareness & gender equality" (30%)
  • Overall creativity (30%)
  • Team building (15%)
  • Fun and interesting (25%)
Awards:

  • Champion – HK$5,000 cash prize and a trophy
  • First runner-up – HK$3,000 cash prize
  • Second runner-up – HK$2,000 cash prize

(ii) Demonstration

Date and time: 5:00 – 7:00pm, Thursday, 21 July 2005
Venue: Gymnasium, Lady Trench Training Centre (44, Oi Kwan Road, Wanchai)

Short-listed teams will demonstrate their games in front of the adjudicating panel. Awards will be presented on the same day. Public is welcome to participate as audience.
