Hou2 Living Gallery @ City One Shatin: Participatory Estate Improvement Programme for an Age-friendly Living Environment

Presentation summary:

Initiated by the Happy Ageing Lab Foundation, Hou2 Living Gallery is a bottom-up participatory design/research programme to identify key design attributes of age-friendly housing for supporting ageing-in-place and intergenerational living. City One Shatin, a typical high-density, high-rise private housing estate, was the pilot estate selected. Through a series of Age-friendly Ambassador training and co-creation activities, the Lab collaborated with the community think tank, consisted of 73 participants including older adults and adult residents, built environment professionals and student volunteers, to develop actionable strategies and design/planning recommendations to improve the age-friendliness of existing housing estates, addressing the challenges of double-ageing.
