Creating Age-friendly Homes and Intergenerational Communities
Presentation summary:
The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) has been striving to create homes attuned to the needs of the community in tandem with the city’s development. In response to the phenomenon of ageing population, HKHS has been providing elderly housing and services that
advocate ageing-in-place for over two decades. With the cumulation of experience and advancement of technology, HKHS is poised to embrace intergenerational models in its coming developments, and to enrich community collaboration to build communities where people
of all ages and all abilities will thrive together in harmony.
In his presentation, Mr James Chan will share HKHS’ experience in elderly housing projects and services, especially how the meticulous age-friendly designs and application of gerontechnology in these projects can enable the senior citizens to enjoy their golden
years in a safe and hassle-free environment. He will also elaborate on HKHS’ recent studies on accessible and adaptable flat designs as well as their vision of creating intergenerational communities that promote inclusion and sustainability.
