Professor Kenneth Fong is a Professor and Associate Head in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and Director of the Research Centre for Assistive Technology (RCATech) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is a registered occupational therapist. He has served as Chairman of the University Ethics Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Hong Kong Journal of Occupational Therapy (HKJOT), member of the Occupational Therapists Board and Supplementary Medical Professions Council, and honorary advisors of several non-governmental organisations and self-help organisations for people with disabilities in Hong Kong. He is also one of the advocates for barrier free environments, assistive technology and universal design paucts for people with disabilities and the ageing population in Hong Kong.

Assistive technology refers to technology that supports people with disabilities. It plays an important role in facilitating their daily living activities, empowering people with disabilities, and promoting inclusivity in society. With the recent technological advances and the broad range of assistive technologies currently available, the presentation will explore the current state of the development of assistive technology and the implementation of assistive technology in Hong Kong, as well as future challenges and opportunities.
