As I stepped into Dignity Kitchen, I was greeted by Hannah’s positive energy. Whenever I visit this restaurant, I marvel at the work of their staff members – many of whom are people with disabilities – and their dedication to excellent service. While I was eating my pandan cake, Hannah told me how immensely rewarding the job is and how her workmates are basically her second family. As an ethnic minority, she has had her fair share of isolation, a commonality found among people with disabilities. Still, she focused on what she can impart on others through initiatives that help marginalised communities – not only those with impairment, but also elders, terminally ill patients, and ethnic minorities.
