  1. “If a man can do it, so can a woman”
Congratulations to the EOC’s Career Challenge mentor, Sarah LEE Wai-Sze, for her performance in the Track Cycling World Championships

Photo of Ms. Sarah Lee and mentees of Career ChallengeThe EOC congratulates Career Challenge 2012/13 mentor, Sarah LEE Wai-Sze, for winning two medals in the Track Cycling World Championships in Belarus in February 2013. She is the first woman to win a “Rainbow Jersey” from an international event. At her sharing session with Career Challenge participants in January of this year, Ms Lee inspired the youths to never give up despite obstacles and shared the story of when she was seriously injured in 2007 from an accident. Her coach had thought of asking her to bow out of cycling, but her perseverance eventually made him change his mind. She has since gone on to great success, including winning the bronze medal in the women's keirin at the 2012 London Olympics, which was Hong Kong's first-ever Olympics medal in cycling.

For the last 11 years, the EOC’s annual youth mentorship programme, Career Challenge, has provided a platform for participants to meet with successful persons who have overcome barriers due to their gender, disability, family status or race to reach their goals.
