  1. Universal Design Benefits Everyone
The EOC promotes accessibility with roving exhibitions in MTR stations

Photo taken at the Roving Exhibition on Access for All The EOC believes that all designs for buildings, transportation, and other infrastructures should move beyond the concept of barrier-free access to the model of Universal Design, integrating the needs of all people in the design stage. To further promote the concept of “Access for All,” a roving exhibition will be organized from today to early May 2012 in eight MTR stations. The 3-D displays will feature the perspectives of four user groups, namely people with visual impairment, people with hearing impairment, wheelchair users, and elderly people. With this exhibition, the EOC aims to raise the general public’s awareness of the benefits of Universal Design in people’s daily lives and solicit public support for improving access. The panel design includes pop-up features to attract attention from members of the public. Check out the schedule below and come visit us.

  1. “Inspire Wider Futures”
The EOC supports gender equality and celebrates International Women’s Day 2012

Photo featuring a group of young girls of different races International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8th. This year, the EOC is participating in a number of initiatives to observe the day and advance gender equality to the benefit of all. As Mr. LAM Woon-kwong, EOC Chairperson, said in his written message for the Women’s Foundation (TWF)’s International Women’s Day Gala Lunch, “By grooming all available talent irrespective of gender, we can stretch our growth limit far beyond our imagination.” In addition to the Gala Lunch, the EOC is supporting a number of celebratory events organized by women’s organizations, trade unions and ethnic minority organisations. Furthermore, mindful that many ethnic minority women face double discrimination due to cultural and gender differences, the EOC is organizing a workshop series on gender equality and the Sex Discrimination Ordinance for ethnic minority communities to further promote the understanding of their rights and responsibilities under the law. Please contact us for more details on this workshop.
