Hard to rent a place

Hard to rent a place

PrideLab
Joe once wanted to rent an apartment. She met the landlord and they agreed on the terms. On the day of signing the tenancy agreement, Joe brought her girlfriend along, only to be told by the landlord that she could no longer rent the place because it was only open to singles. Later Joe heard from her agent that the landlord had said pointedly he wouldn’t rent to “homosexuals”. Joe felt that she had been discriminated against because of her sexual orientation, and was further frustrated by the lack of an anti-discrimination law in Hong Kong that could protect her rights in her situation.
