A gender he doesn’t identify with

Linus has always seen himself as male. Even as a child, he avoided using the ladies’ room. His parents didn’t think much of it, dismissing it as just the antics of a naughty kid. When the kindergarten teacher intervened and others joined in asking him to behave “more like a girl”, however, Linus began to feel stressed and anxious. By the time he was in secondary school, he had developed the habit of avoiding going to the washroom altogether in public places.

Years of self-exploration have left Linus with no doubt that he identifies as male. When he was 33, he came out to his family, friends and colleagues as a transman. He was greeted with a warm acceptance from many of them; some of his colleagues even started addressing him with male pronouns right away.
