Shmily is one of the very few older gay men in Hong Kong who have opened up about their lives. Back in the day, there was no Instagram, no dating apps, no online forums, not even bars and saunas; parks, toilets and alleyways thus became a semi-public space where company was sought out, and relationships sprouted – some fragile and fleeting, some lasting for decades.
