Having grown up in the city, gone to a local school and pursued an undergraduate degree in a local university, Sumi felt as if she had always lived in a bubble. Until she met her peers in university, she had little to no chance of exploring her cultural identity or what it means to be a Nepalese in Hong Kong. Together, they realised the challenges facing ethnic minorities in Hong Kong. This inspired them to form JUNS HK, a student-led organisation that aims to empower Nepalese youth in Hong Kong to realise their dreams.
