Born in India, Baljeet came to Hong Kong after getting married in 1997. She has been living here for almost 23 years. She enjoys shopping with her friends, as well as cooking and experimenting with new recipes. She lives in Kowloon, and most of her neighbours are local Chinese. She loves to cook and exchange dishes with them as it reminds her of the community in her small town back in Punjab, where it is common for neighbours to share their food and recipes with each other.
While she does not speak Cantonese fluently, she knows just enough to have a small chat with the local shopkeepers at the market when doing her grocery shopping in the afternoon.
