Saiksha admits that she lived in a small bubble prior to high school because she was always surrounded by an amazing local community that gave her unconditional support. However, that quickly shattered when she began to notice how her race plays an influential role in her life, shaping her experiences and marking her as different from “others”. “It can be easy to feel hopeless when you realise that the institutions had been against you even before you were born,” she said. “But it’s nice to know that instead of dwelling on the negatives all the time, we can make a change and improve the future for the upcoming generations, regardless of their ethnicity.”
She is a big foodie and adores the local food as well as fusion dishes. She told her parents she would only marry somebody who loves local food as much as she does!
