Migrant domestic workers play an important role in society, but most of the time we are treated just like air – something that is there, but not really seen. When people do notice us, they rarely think that we are more than our jobs; rather, we are our jobs. With this mindset, some employers slip into abusing their workers or even subjecting them to near-slavery. The person behind the “maid” persona remains unseen, as we continue to work for our employers and their family.
