Leeh Ann

Leeh Ann is a street photographer and migrant domestic worker living in Hong Kong. Originally from Pangasinan, Philippines, Leeh Ann holds a BS in Biology and worked as a high school teacher and private tutor before migrating to the city in 2013.

Originally self-taught from online videos and articles, Leeh Ann is now a part of the photography community of Hong Kong. For her, photography is both a way to ward off feelings of homesickness and isolation, and to build connections in her life – connections with others who share her passion, with the city, and with the people of Hong Kong. Through her art, she hopes to inspire other migrants, especially women, to continue striving towards their goals.

In her photo essay featured here, she tries to grasp the life of a migrant domestic worker in Hong Kong and make sense of the city and its people. The works show scenes of daily life seen from her unique perspective not only as a multi-faceted woman working in the big city, but also as one of the millions of people who stroll along Hong Kong’s streets every day.
