The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is to promote equal opportunities through its Community Participation Funding Programme.

 

The EOC has supported over 700 non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community groups, and schools in the past 13 years to carry out projects that promote public understanding of equal opportunities and the principles and applications of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance through the Community Participation Funding Programme.

 

The funding programme 2010/11 is now open for application. Projects promoting racial harmony and the Race Discrimination Ordinance, family status/gender equality, and those promoting anti-discrimination policies and practices at workplace will be accorded higher priority for funding this year. To be eligible for funding, the applications should reach the EOC either by 14 May 2010 (1st batch) or by 31 July 2010 (2nd batch), and clearly state how the planned activities will promote equal opportunities, and/or foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and behaviors. The maximum funding limit of each project is $50,000.
