Voices of Womanhood

Over the past few years, women entrepreneurship has become a buzzword in the startup and gig economy. This is joined by an increasing number of corporations who affirm their commitment to women’s empowerment by adopting family-friendly policies seen as conducive to the shattering of the glass ceiling.

While encouraging in their own right, narratives of women in business tend to exclude the voices of women with little social and economic capital, and those coping with various forms of prejudice on top of gender-based biases.

This section serves as an outlet for some of these voices. From working-class carers and immigrants from mainland China to transwomen, the women represented here show an inspiring resilience and an unwavering sense of hope for a better tomorrow.
