Five new mobile apps launched under the Government’s Funding Scheme for Digital Inclusion Mobile Apps

In 2012, the Government launched the Funding Scheme for Digital Inclusion Mobile Apps. Under the scheme, funding support is provided via the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer for non-profit social service organisations to develop mobile apps that cater for the needs of underprivileged groups.

Five new mobile apps were launched under the scheme in early 2017. They are:

- AngeLINK, which assists elderly persons to produce life memorable booklets;

- Early Literacy, which provides training on reading and writing skills for children with learning difficulties;

- Silence Sign Language Interpretation App, which provides instant sign language interpretation service for persons with hearing impairment through video communication;

- Smart and Fit DS Kids, which provides training on muscular and co-ordination abilities for children with Down Syndrome; and

- Tap My Dish, which provides speech augmented food menu information for persons with visual impairment.

To date, three rounds of funding have been provided, with a total of 17 free mobile apps developed. To download the apps, please go to the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer website.
