2022 Children’s Rights Education Funding Scheme opens for application

Children are our future. For this reason, we should take all possible steps to protect the wellbeing of children and safeguard their rights. Indeed, like adults, children enjoy a full range of civil, political, cultural, social and economic rights. These are set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which came into force in Hong Kong in 1994, and continued to apply to Hong Kong after the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR.

To foster public understanding and respect of children’s rights, the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau has been running the Children’s Rights Education Funding Scheme since 2006. The Scheme aims to encourage and enable community organisations to take up non-profit-making educational projects for raising public awareness and understanding of children’s rights enshrined in the Convention.

The 2022 Scheme is now open to application. Successful applicants may receive funding of up to HK$110,000 for district-focused projects, and HK$300,000 for territory-wide projects. Application closes on 4 November 2021. Further information and guide to application can be accessed through the link below.
