EO Casebook 2022

New edition of EO Casebook now available online

The Equal Opportunities Casebook, based on a variety of actual complaints conciliated by the EOC and cases legally assisted by the Commission, has always served as an indispensable guide to Hong Kong’s anti-discrimination laws for employers, service providers and the public alike.

Just this week, the EOC has released an updated edition of the publication, which includes an addition of eight conciliated cases and three legally assisted ones from recent years.

The issues addressed by the newly added cases are manifold, ranging from marital status discrimination against job applicants and family status discrimination against employees to racial harassment against customers and seating arrangements made by event organisers that might constitute disability discrimination.

The Casebook also outlines the EOC’s complaint-handling procedure, as well as the factors the Commission’s Legal and Complaints Committee takes into account when reviewing applications for legal assistance from aggrieved persons who have not been able to settle the relevant dispute through conciliation by the EOC.

Download the publication now if you wish to learn more about your rights and obligations under the anti-discrimination legislation.
