Pro Bono HK to organise seminar on tackling pregnancy discrimination in the workplace

Under the Sex Discrimination Ordinance (SDO), women are protected from pregnancy discrimination in such areas as employment, and the provision of goods, facilities or services. Employers are strongly recommended to take steps to prevent possible unlawful acts.

On 16 May 2023, Pro Bono HK, a non-profit organisation, will organise an in-person seminar featuring speakers from the legal and finance industries to dive into this issue. The seminar, funded by the EOC’s Community Participation and Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities, will introduce the legal protection against pregnancy discrimination, offer recommendations on strategies to prevent pregnancy discrimination in the workplace, and suggest what to do if an employee becomes a victim of pregnancy discrimination.

Human resources professionals from different sectors and interested parties are welcome to join and exchange insights on how to strengthen relevant policies and measures to foster a more inclusive workplace and protect the rights of pregnant women.
