Carer Awareness Day Conference to discuss how to support carers

Carers are the unsung heroes of our society. The EOC is pleased to become a co-organiser of the Carer Awareness Day Conference, which is initiated by the Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service (BOKSS) and various carer-focused organisations to show support for carers.

The hybrid Conference, titled “Care is Right”, will take place in Science Park on 19 May. A diverse group of experts will participate in panel discussions and plenary sessions, covering themes such as carer needs, carer engagement, distance caregiving, inclusive banking, etc.

EOC Chairperson Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin will be one of the panellists to share the EOC’s work in advocating for carers and elaborate on how the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance protects people with family responsibilities. Caregiving professionals, workers, carers, academic professionals and NGO representatives are welcome to enrol in this free-of-charge event.

On 20 May, the “520 Care-hood Micro Expo” will be held to draw in more carers and the wider public. The event will feature booths that introduce different kinds of carer-specific resources, ranging from social services to health and tech products, that can help ease carers’ burdens. Participants can also attend workshops that teach them how to release stress and take care of people with different needs.
