Latest issue of The EO Beat is released online

The May 2023 issue of The EO Beat is now available for download. This EOC’s official periodical highlights the EOC’s achievements in the past six months and offers some important insights and practical tips for propelling diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the workplace and beyond.

The cover story features EOC’s study on the stigmatisation faced by persons with mental illness (PMIs), which was released in February 2023. The study revealed that the majority of the respondents, including PMIs and employed persons, considered discrimination against PMIs to be “very or quite prevalent” in Hong Kong. The findings provided a call to action for all of us to work towards creating a more inclusive society. Some guidelines are recommended in the article to help employers and employees foster an inclusive workplace.

Besides, The EO Beat also covers EOC’s “All Races As One” campaign which was launched in commemoration of International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) 2023. Under the campaign, the EOC encouraged schools to hold activities to mark IDERD, organised the “All Races As One” seminar for educationalists to seek ways to engage students in discussion about racial topics, and rolled out useful and up-to-date teaching materials and guidelines related to racial issues for teachers and schools.

In addition, this issue showcases the EOC’s first-ever EO Youth Ambassador Scheme, in which our youth ambassadors participated in an array of experiential learning and mentoring activities to gain knowledge  and experience of equal opportunities.

The periodical also includes a section on the EOC’s law enforcement efforts in 2022, as well as snapshots of the EOC’s recent activities.
