EOC is appointed as a SafeCity Ambassador

The EOC is honoured to be appointed as a “SafeCity Ambassador”, under a scheme initiated by the Crime Prevention Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF).

EOC Member and Convenor of the Community Participation and Publicity Committee Mr Gary WONG Chi-him represented the EOC to receive the Certificate of Appointment at the launching ceremony of the “SafeCity.HK” website cum Appointment of SafeCity Ambassadors on 16 May 2023.

A total of 47 representatives from various community organisations and groups have become SafeCity Ambassadors, whose duties include sharing crime prevention good practices, promoting the concept of crime prevention, encouraging all to participate in crime prevention, establishing a crime prevention culture and mindset, as well as disseminating crime prevention information to all. The scheme is also one of the strategies to consolidate the “Crime Alerts Network”, which was set up by the Crime Prevention Bureau in early 2022 to use WhatsApp to disseminate crime alerts promptly to some local communities, such as schools, parents, social workers and various private organisations.

Meanwhile, HKPF launched a new website “SafeCity.HK” to provide a one-stop hub for the most updated crime prevention tips and knowledge. The new website will allow the public to access crime prevention information more effectively and efficiently. It covers major areas such as “Personal Safety”, “Security of Premises”, and “Quick Links” to crime prevention information. It also provides “Educational Materials” for teachers to bring crime prevention information to students to enhance their awareness of crime trends.
