EOC collaborates with RTHK to produce new radio show ‘Inclusive Society’

The EOC is partnering with the Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) Radio 2 to produce a new Cantonese radio show titled ‘Inclusive Society (《同處一室》)’. The show seeks to foster an inclusive city and eliminate prejudices, misunderstandings and stereotypes.

Starting from 4 November 2023, the programme airs every Saturday from 24:00 to 25:00. The EOC participates in a regular half-hour segment called ‘Inclusive Connections (《共融連線》)’, which features discrimination cases handled by the EOC. Dr Ferrick CHU Chung-man, Executive Director (Operations) of the EOC joins the radio host to have an in-depth discussion on the application of the anti-discrimination law and the relevant issues of these cases. The first two episodes covered accessibility and universal design, as well as sexual harassment in the workplace, while the upcoming episode on 18 November will delve into pregnancy discrimination.

The second part of the show features interviews with guests and experts, as they share their experiences in promoting diversity and inclusion. EOC Chairperson Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin was interviewed in the first two episodes. You may listen to the programme on the RTHK official website.

In addition, since 18 October 2023, HOY TV Channel 77 news programme ‘City Focus (《一線搜查》)’ has been airing TV segments related to equal opportunities, including topics such as (1) carers’ responsibilities and the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance, (2) sexual harassment in the workplace, (3) accessibility and universal design, (4) racial harmony and (5) pregnancy discrimination, breastfeeding discrimination and harassment. These segments, commissioned by the EOC, aim to enhance public awareness of discrimination issues. Each segment contains vox pops, dramas, interviews with stakeholders, as well as EOC Chairperson Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin, IDS and Executive Director (Operations) Dr Ferrick Chu Chung-man, who explain the protection provided by the anti-discrimination ordinances.
