EOC welcomes the appointment of new Chairperson

The EOC welcomes the appointment of Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau as its new Chairperson. On 19 March, the SAR Government announced that the Chief Executive has appointed Ms Lam as the new EOC Chairperson for a term of three years, effective from 11 April 2024.  She will take over from Mr Ricky CHU Man-kin, whose term will expire on 10 April 2024. Ms Lam served in the Department of Justice for a total of 29 years, and was the Law Officer (International Law) before retirement.

Mr Chu, the incumbent Chairperson of the EOC, said, “On behalf of the EOC, I extend my warm welcome to Ms Lam. With in-depth legal knowledge and solid experience, I am certain that Ms Lam will lead the EOC to continue moving forward, and keep striving for excellence, conducting investigation and conciliation of complaints in accordance with the anti-discrimination ordinances, and further motivating different sectors of the society to embrace the values of diversity, equality, and inclusion.”

“I am honoured to have served the EOC over the past five years, as we stood united with the community in the face of the challenges posed by the pandemic. Throughout this period, the EOC remained steadfast in fulfilling our statutory duty to address the discrimination encountered by the public,” said Mr Chu.

“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the EOC Board Members and staff for walking this journey with me over the past five years, as well as to the stakeholders, partners, and all those who have supported our work and contributed their valuable insights. Their unfailing support has enabled the EOC to achieve smooth progress and satisfactory results for its work. I firmly believe that the EOC will continue to serve the general public with the utmost dedication, and contribute to the development of Hong Kong and the nation.”
