Social Welfare Department invites applications for IT schemes for persons with disabilities

Social Welfare Department invites applications for IT schemes for persons with disabilities

The Social Welfare Department’s IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment and Central Fund for Personal Computers are both open for applications until 17 April 2024.

The IT Scheme for People with Visual Impairment seeks to support schools, tertiary institutions, and NGOs serving people with visual impairment to acquire advanced Chinese screen readers, Braille displays of 40 cells, and assistive devices for browsing the Internet. The scheme also subsidises individuals with visual impairment with economic difficulties to purchase these devices to meet their needs for work or study.

Separately, the Central Fund for Personal Computers aims to assist people with disabilities to acquire computers for self-employment at home or to receive supported employment services at home. The scheme also provides guidance and follow-up services by the nominating rehabilitation service organisations or the Selection Placement Division of the Labour Department.
