EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau unveils her vision in radio programmes
Since coming on board on 11 April, EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau has been communicating with internal and external stakeholders. She also shared her vision and work objectives with community members through radio programmes.
In her appearance on RTHK’s Letter to Hong Kong on 20 April, Ms Lam expressed her firm commitment to using her professional expertise and experiences to effectively lead the Commission, to serve the public, and to promote the values of diversity, equality, and inclusion.
“Even though Hong Kong is a diverse city, some citizens still hold misconceptions or even discriminatory attitudes towards individuals with different characteristics and abilities. Therefore, the EOC must adopt a multi-pronged approach, including enforcement, prevention and education, to change these views and eliminate discrimination,” she said.
She also expressed her intention to enhance the professional knowledge and development of the staff at the EOC, with a view to establishing the Commission as a leader in conciliation in the Asia-Pacific region.
Separately, Ms Lam was also interviewed on RTHK Radio 2’s radio show Inclusive Society on 21 April. During the interview, Ms Lam highlighted her priority to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaboration with stakeholders to garner support from diverse communities.
“Society is changing rapidly. As such, the EOC needs to adopt a forward-looking vision and keep up with the changing times and social trends, by implementing policies that respond to the latest developments and challenges,” she said.
