Equal Opportunity Youth Ambassadors explore local neighbourhoods with students with special educational needs
Individuals with different abilities often have different ways of understanding and experiencing the environment around them. On 25 May 2024, the Equal Opportunity Youth Ambassadors participated in a community exploration programme organised by the NGO TREATS together with students with special educational needs (SEN). Travelling together through different neighbourhoods in the Central and Sheung Wan districts, the programme allowed the Youth Ambassadors to connect with students with SEN and understand their way of seeing and being in the world.
Over the past few months, the Youth Ambassadors have participated in a range of experiential learning activities to enhance their knowledge of different aspects of diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI). These activities included participating in a community multicultural tour, exercising with athletes with disabilities, and visiting a company to learn about DEI in the corporate setting. As part of their graduation assignment, the Youth Ambassadors are working on their own projects to promote the anti-sexual harassment message on university campuses. The EOC will hold a recognition ceremony in June to showcase the learnings and spotlight the achievements of the Youth Ambassadors.
