EOC holds recognition ceremony of Equal Opportunity Youth Ambassador Scheme 2023/24
On 15 June 2024, the EOC held a recognition ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Equal Opportunity Youth Ambassador Scheme 2023/24 by 42 tertiary students. Over the past six months, the Youth Ambassadors participated in a diverse range of experiential activities to enrich their knowledge and understanding of diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI).
This year’s expanded programme included online and in-person sexual harassment prevention training for the Youth Ambassadors. Drawing on their learnings, the students created a series of thought-provoking anti-sexual harassment promotional materials and initiatives to spread the message of building harassment-free campuses to their peers. These included posters, leaflets, stickers and videos for instant messaging applications, as well as social media content. At the ceremony, the Youth Ambassadors also pledged to continue tackling sexual harassment on campuses under the slogan “Respect for All. Stop Sexual Harassment”.
In her welcome remarks, EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau commended the achievements and contributions of the Youth Ambassadors. “As young people take up the mantle of tackling sexual harassment, we hope the Youth Ambassadors will continue to champion the cause and promote the message on campuses, and even in the workplace in the future,” she said.
In addition to sexual harassment prevention training, the Youth Ambassadors also participated in other learning activities, including training with athletes with disabilities, visiting a company to learn about DEI in the employment context, joining a multicultural tour to understand the culture, traditions, and religions of ethnic minorities, as well as explore the community with young people with special educational needs.
The EOC would like to express gratitude to all the organisations and individuals who have provided valuable support and advice for the Scheme, including various tertiary institutions, Hong Kong Network for the Promotion of Inclusive Society, Meta, TREATS, WEDO Global, and the EOC Members who participated in the activities and advised on the programme.
