Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities launches talent development scheme for youth with disabilities

The Hong Kong Joint Council for People with Disabilities has launched a talent development scheme to equip youth with disabilities with the skills to participate in public affairs and champion the rights and needs of people with disabilities. The scheme, which comprises of eight workshops and a trip to the Greater Bay Area, will run from August 2024 to March 2025 and is free of charge. The council is now accepting applications until 30 June 2024.

The scheme welcomes individuals with any types of disability to apply. Participant should be able to engage in two-way communication (including those using assistive tools/devices or sign language) and have basic understanding of rehabilitation services.  Priority will be given to those who have participated in committees or working groups in government, institutions, or organisations in the past five years. The Council may interview applicants in July 2024, and successful applicants will be notified by early August 2024.
