EOC joins World Breastfeeding Week 2024 organised by World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA)

EOC joins World Breastfeeding Week 2024 organised by World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA)

World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is an annual global campaign organised to raise awareness and promote action on issues related to breastfeeding. Held from 1-7 August each year, the theme for this year’s campaign is “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All”, which aims to eliminate barriers to breastfeeding and empower mothers to sustain the practice through collaboration across society.

This year, the EOC is also pleased to join the WBW 2024 campaign coordinated WABA. Our involvement demonstrates our commitment to engendering a breastfeeding-friendly society. On 30 July, the EOC participated in the WBW 2024 Celebration Ceremony organised by the Department of Health in collaboration with the Hospital Authority, the Baby-friendly Hospital Initiative Hong Kong Association (BFHIHKA), and the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK). With the aim to promote a breastfeeding-friendly environment in Hong Kong, the event calls on the public to provide essential support to mothers in the workplace and in public spaces.

On 6 August, the EOC will release the findings of the Study on Breastfeeding at Publicly Accessible Premises in Hong Kong with the aim to provide recommendations to public and private sectors for promoting a discrimination-free environment for breastfeeding in Hong Kong.
