EOC launches Racially Friendly Campus Recognition Scheme 2024/25
The EOC has launched the 2024/25 Racially Friendly Campus Recognition Scheme to promote racial inclusion and diversity in schools. Supported by the Education Bureau, the scope of the scheme is further expanded to include three new awards for exemplary initiatives, namely the Racially Friendly Campus Star Champion Award, the Racial Diversity & Inclusion Teacher Partner Award and the Racially Friendly Campus Activity Award of the Year.
The EOC first launched the scheme in the 2022/23 academic year with the aim to encourage schools to organise student activities and publicity campaigns to promote racial equality and inclusion on campuses. The inaugural round drew the participation of 60 schools. The figure increased to over 150 schools for the second round in 2023/24, highlighting the growing importance of the issue for both students and educational professionals.
EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau said, “It is heartening that more and more schools are embracing the teaching and modelling the values of racial diversity, equality and inclusion among their students and staff. We look forward to seeing the scheme gain further momentum, covering all schools across the city.”
