EOC calls for applications for Racial Diversity & Inclusion Employers Award Scheme

The EOC is calling for applications for the Racial Diversity & Inclusion Employers Award Scheme, which aims to recognise organisations that demonstrate a strong commitment to implementing policies and practices that create work environments ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for employees of all races. Applications are now open until 31 March 2025. All employers in Hong Kong are welcome to participate in the Award Scheme.

The Scheme features three award categories – the Racial Equity in Hiring Award, Inclusive Workplace Award, and Community Engagement Award. They highlight the key areas where employers can make positive impact in advancing racial equality and inclusion. All submissions will be assessed based on five criteria: the management’s commitment to equal opportunity policies, efforts to establish and maintain such policies and measures, the innovativeness of these policies and measures, sustainability, and the benefits they bring both within and outside the organisation. An independent judging panel made up of EOC Members, social dignitaries, and professionals across different sectors will decide on the awardees, which will be announced in September 2025.

EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau said, “We are encouraged to see that a growing number of employers in Hong Kong are taking active steps to promote racial diversity and inclusion. Many of the policies and practices they have implemented have created a positive impact both within and outside their organisations, enabling people of all racial and cultural backgrounds to realise their talents and contribute to society. By giving these employers the recognition they deserve, we hope to encourage them to continue their efforts and to cascade the importance of a racially equitable workplace to more employers across diverse sectors for positive change.”

An online briefing session will be held on Thursday, 13 February 2025 for interested organisations.  For enquiries, please email racialequality@eoc.org.hk.
