CantoGather provides language and multicultural education to foster racial integration

Proficiency in Cantonese and understanding of local cultures are essential for non-ethnic Chinese children’s integration into Hong Kong society. CantoGather, a local non-governmental organisation, is offering two programmes focused on language and multicultural education to help these children enhance their language skills and intercultural competence. The EOC is proud to support the two initiatives.

The “Cantonese, Culture, and CommUnity Learning Programme” is a year-long initiative that provides Chinese and Cantonese classes for lower primary, non-ethnic Chinese students in Hong Kong. Beyond improving language proficiency, the programme also provides opportunities for students to learn about different cultures and communities in Hong Kong.

The second programme, “From Me to We: Cultural Intelligence Training Programme”, offers creative workshops and group activities for both Chinese and non-ethnic Chinese primary students. Participants will explore diverse cultures in Hong Kong, fostering empathy, intercultural understanding, and social inclusion. The programme promotes constructive teamwork, allowing students to express their individuality and strengthen community ties through art and creativity.
