‘Resonating Voices’ project tackles mental health stigmatisation
Resonating Voices: Mental Health Anti-Stigma Community Integration Project is a project by the Lok Ching Community Mental Health Education and Promotion Service Centre, which is part of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. Funded by the EOC’s 2023-24 Community Participation Funding Programme on Equal Opportunities, the Centre has organised a series of educational workshops and experiential events to promote the importance of mental health for youth and the general public. It has recently launched a series of videos that include interviews with individuals with mental health needs sharing their experiences, as well as discussions with a mental health professional on ways to support people with mental health needs.
In one of the videos, an illustrator recounts his experiences with panic attacks and his road to recovery. In another video, a person with depression opens up about his experience with the condition. There are also video interviews with a clinical psychologist on ways to support family members with bipolar disorder. The videos (in Chinese only) are now available on the Centre’s YouTube page, Radioicare.
