EduHK hosts seminar on building inclusive workplaces
On 30 May 2025, the Education University of Hong Kong’s Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies hosted a seminar on fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Attended by around 60 participants, including policymakers, inclusive employers, NGOs, job agencies, researchers, people with disabilities and their caregivers, the seminar focused on the personal, organisational, and systemic obstacles people with disabilities face in the field of employment. The event also explored how different stakeholders can collaborate to improve the employment situation for people with disabilities.
EOC Executive Director (Operations) Dr Ferrick CHU Chung-man participated in the seminar as a guest advisor. He said society should not label people with disabilities and presume that they are not able to take up certain roles. Dr Chu encouraged employers to hire suitable candidates according to the inherent requirements of the job, and to provide reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities to enable them to perform their work.
