EOC launches 2025/26 Racially Friendly Campus Recognition Scheme
On 1 September 2025, the EOC launched the 2025/26 Racially Friendly Campus Recognition Scheme. First introduced in the 2022/23 school year, the Scheme aims to encourage schools to foster racial equality and inclusion on campuses through student activities, teacher training, and publicity initiatives.
Applauding the launch of the Scheme for the fourth year, Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau, Chairperson of the EOC, said, “Over the years, a total of 225 schools have engaged in the Scheme. The number of participating schools has more than doubled, rising from 60 schools in the inaugural year to 133 in the third year. This remarkable increase reflects a growing dedication from the education sector to this vital cause. Even more encouraging is the innovative approach schools are taking to promote racial inclusion through diverse activities such as sports, music and student-led initiatives. These creative efforts, championed by both educators and students, play a crucial role in fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding in schools. We hope to sustain this momentum and ensure it continues to every school across Hong Kong.”
To be recognised as Racially Friendly Campus Champions under the Scheme, schools are required to organise student activities and staff training on racial inclusion, promote messages of racial inclusion online, and actively support the 2026 International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on campuses. Institutions with a long-term commitment to the Scheme will be recognised with the Racially Friendly Campus Star Champion Award, while educators who demonstrate exceptional efforts in advancing the Scheme’s objectives will receive the Racial Diversity & Inclusion Teacher Partner Award.
Application for the Scheme will close on 30 September 2025.
