EOC Members and staff members participate in national studies course
EOC Members Ms Queenie CHAN Lai-kwan and Dr Theresa CUNANAN, along with eight EOC staff members, participated in a national studies course at Zhejiang institute of Administration in Hangzhou from 13 to 17 October 2025. Co-ordinated by the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and specifically designed for statutory bodies in Hong Kong, the course aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the country and the latest social and economic development through themed lectures, panel discussions and field trips. Apart from the EOC, representatives from the Office of the Ombudsman and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data also participated in the course.
EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau said, “I would like to thank the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for co-ordinating the national studies course. Not only did representatives from the EOC participate in lectures covering topics such as Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, the Constitution and the Basic Law, but they also visited several prefecture-level cities in Zhejiang Province to explore different industries, gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s development in innovation and technology, tourism, economy and national history. The course enabled EOC Members and staff members to experience firsthand the Chinese path to modernisation, which has significantly deepened their understanding of the country. With the knowledge gained from the course and the successful experiences of various regions and enterprises, I hope that the participants will be able to further advance EOC’s work and contribute to the development of both the country and Hong Kong.”
In addition to attending lectures, the participants also visited Yucan Village in Anji County, Huzhou, ZJU-Hangzhou Global Scientific and Technological Innovation Center, the Alibaba Group’s Global Headquarters in Hangzhou and the Nanhu Revolutionary Memorial Hall to learn more about the country’s latest developments.
