Forty-eight schools compete in the Equal Opportunity Cup Inter-school Debate Competition

The Equal Opportunity Cup Inter-School Debate Competition 2025-2026 will begin with its first preliminary round of matches on 1 February 2026. Organised by the EOC, the competition provides a valuable opportunity for secondary school students to learn more about equal opportunities issues in Hong Kong through spirited debates.

This year, the EOC has expanded the competition from 32 to 48 participating schools, selected by a draw from 107 applications. Over six rounds of 48 knockout matches, representatives of the participating schools will debate motions related to equal opportunities and the four anti-discrimination ordinances. The Grand Final cum Award Ceremony will be held in May 2026. The competition schedule and the debate motions for each round can be found on the designated competition website.

Commercial Radio 1 is the media partner of the competition. The Grand Final will be broadcast on its programme ‘School Net 334’, promoting the value of equal opportunities to the broader community.
