EOC Promotes Equal Opportunities through Funding Programme

03/04/2013

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is to promote equal opportunities through its Community Participation Funding Programme.

The EOC has supported over 890 projects by non-governmental organizations (NGOs), community groups, and schools in the past 16 years to promote public understanding of equal opportunities and the principles and applications of the Sex Discrimination Ordinance, the Disability Discrimination Ordinance, the Family Status Discrimination Ordinance and the Race Discrimination Ordinance through the Community Participation Funding Programme.

The funding programme 2013/14 is now open for application.   It aims at encouraging eligible organisations to carry out projects which promote public understanding of equal opportunities. It is hoped that the funded projects would foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and encourage members of the public to put aside their prejudices, and support and apply the principles of equal opportunities in everyday life. To be eligible for funding, the applications should reach the EOC either by 15 May 2013 (1st batch) or by 31 July 2013 (2nd batch), and clearly state how the planned activities will promote equal opportunities, and/or foster anti-discriminatory attitudes and behaviors.  The maximum funding limit of each project is $50,000.

Interested organizations can contact the EOC Office at 2511-8211 to obtain details of the programme and funding application forms, or visit our homepage at http://www.eoc.org.hk/eoc/fundp.htm
