In response to a public enquiry on whether the Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) was involved in locating the respondent of a complaint case, the EOC today (29 May 2014) issues the following statement :-  

1. All complaints lodged to the EOC are handled by the staff of the Operations Division of the Commission. The EOC Chairperson is not being involved and does not intervene in the process of complaints handling. 

2. The EOC abides strictly by the principle of confidentiality and will not disclose the information of a particular complaint case in the public domain or to the media. 

3. The EOC regrets that a local media has used an inappropriate headline in its report, which might have misled the public on understanding the work process of the Commission.
