The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) today (11 September 2024) held a sharing session on the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee (Third Plenary Session) of the Communist Party of China. Hosted by EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau, the session enabled members of the management team to develop a thorough understanding of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session and explored how the EOC can implement the values in its work.

At the sharing session, Ms Lam said, “The Third Plenary Session adopted the Resolution of the CPC Central Committee on Further Deepening Reform Comprehensively to Advance Chinese Modernisation, with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) having a role to play in the reform process. As a statutory body of the HKSAR, the EOC needs to understand the spirit of the Third Plenary Session and consider ways to seize the opportunities provided by the resolution made at the Third Plenary Session to expand the scope of our work. Additionally, the EOC should collaborate with relevant organisations in the Mainland to contribute to the high-quality development and Chinese modernisation of the country and Hong Kong collectively.”

Ms Lam also encouraged EOC staff members to watch the full video of the publicity delegation explaining the spirit of the Third Plenary Session on the Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau’s website, which would enable them to understand the country’s path in reform and opening up, its future direction, and the underlying principles.

Following the sharing session, division heads of the EOC will cascade the key messages discussed in the session to other EOC staff members.
