13/09/2024
Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) Member Ms Rosanna CHOI Yi-tak, along with nine EOC staff members, participated in a national studies course at the National Academy of Governance in Beijing from 9 to 13 September 2024. Organised by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and specifically designed for the statutory bodies in Hong Kong, the course aims to enhance the participants’ understanding of the Mainland’s system and development, the latest social and economic situation, as well as Hong Kong’s role in the country’s development strategy. The Office of the Ombudsman and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data also participated in the national studies course.
EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau thanked the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for organising the national studies course. She said, “The scope of the course covered Xi Jinping Thought on the Rule of Law, national security and defence, the country’s innovation development and foreign policy. Additionally, it delved into the importance of fully implementing the ‘One Country, Two Systems’ principle, as well as the country’s approach to deepen reform and further advance modernisation with Chinese characteristics. I believe that the course will significantly enhance the EOC staff members’ understanding of the country’s policies and the importance of Hong Kong’s integration into the country’s development plan. As a result, they will be better equipped to serve society and make contributions to the development of both the country and Hong Kong.”
The national studies course was held at the National Academy of Governance in Beijing. Apart from attending lectures, the participants were also arranged to visit the Committee for the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region under the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Museum of the Chinese Communist Party and the Zhongguancun National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone to learn more about the country’s history and latest developments.
