EOC Calls on the Community to Promote Racial Inclusion to Mark IDERD 2025

The Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) is calling on stakeholders and the wider community to promote racial diversity and inclusion to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) 2025, which is celebrated annually on 21 March.

As the statutory body responsible for implementing the Race Discrimination Ordinance, the EOC is committed to creating an equal and inclusive society for individuals from all racial and cultural backgrounds. As part of its efforts to mark the IDERD 2025, the EOC has mobilised signatories of the Racial Diversity & Inclusion Charter for Employers and schools participating in the Racially Friendly Campus Recognition Scheme to spread the message of racial equality and non-discrimination through various online and offline activities.

To foster a truly multicultural society, the EOC recognises the importance of engaging stakeholders across diverse sectors to amplify awareness and to inspire the participation of the wider community to take meaningful action. Accordingly, it has launched a social media kit to encourage individuals and organisations to spread the message of racial inclusion on IDERD 2025. The social media kit can be downloaded HERE.

EOC Chairperson Ms Linda LAM Mei-sau said, “A multicultural and racially inclusive society is not just beneficial for people from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds – it is also essential for maintaining Hong Kong as an attractive destination for investment, business, and tourism. By engaging in cross-cultural dialogue, creating inclusive environments, and fostering a diverse workforce, we can all contribute to engendering a society where everyone, regardless of their backgrounds, is welcomed, respected, and valued. On IDERD 2025, let us reaffirm our commitment to racial equality and work together to build an inclusive future for all.”
