EOC Embarks on 3-Day Beijing Exchange

Members of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) have today (12 July 2005) begun a study programme of relevant government departments and organizations in Beijing, including visits this week to the All China Women's Federation, the China Disabled Persons' Federation and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission.


Following a courtesy call to the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council, Commission Chairperson Mr. Raymond Tang said, " The purpose of the exchange is to enhance understanding of the work on gender and disability in Beijing and Hong Kong. Responding to interest in our work, it is appropriate to improve liaison with our counterparts on the mainland."


This is the second visit of its kind for Members and staff, the first such exchange took place in 1997.
