Following a meeting with "殘疾人士爭取交通半費優惠聯席" (an alliance of persons with disabilities for concessionary public transport fares) today (5 January, 2006), Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) Mr. Raymond Tang said, "Access to public transportation is a basic and important right for everyone. I understand this is a particular issue affecting many persons with disabilities (PWDs), one which has remained unresolved for several years. The Commission supports any effort to help persons with disabilities (PWDs) overcome barriers which hinder that access, and we urge the government and public transport operators to consider viable solutions for PWDs."
